this really ain't escaping reality actually
posting just a pic i found in my random folder to submit for time like this
u know, usually i'll just mass edit my pics at once then slowly update the blog and stuff or divide them into groups etc but now, especially with the absence of photoshop at this comp it's kinda getting hard to do a really quick editing

days over here hadn't been the very best, i'm in such a dilemma

today's light very nice can !!
well, up till this moment
make me feel so imprisoned sitting here staring at the blue blue sky whenever i lift my head up from the notes
so, decided to move my stare away and turn into this screen and then end up editing my pics
was mugging from like 3 - 6 during which two ah peks came over, well, i was mugging downstairs at those lepak places under the hdb block, chatted for a brief 5 mins with each of them that came during some 2 hours interval
really love studying downstairs, feel so much more productive
should begin doing this every single night d

came home at about 6.10 am for a short break then read some iphone forums on how to change the sms ringtone, and managed to do just that :D then check the sky from the window
some orange-ness after days of ****up mad skies, mad as in really mad ok, it'd like thunder thunder with dark clouds flying damn fast over the head then like 1 hour later sunny sunny bright bright like that again, so regardless, i told myself, aiyah heck just go up
and boy was i lucky i went up with the camera















as the first shutter went off, i feel soo........WOHOOOO !!!!! the sound i miss so blerdy much ! eh now that i can make my own sms ringtone, mabbe i should make the sound of shutter as the ringtone eh ?! - please bare in mind that i'm still very stress so every single mad and nonsensical things i say are all excusable

it's the exams period so please pardon the lack of updates.
the thing is actually i'm glad that i'm not spending a lot of time here typing away.
despite i actually still do edit my pics but that's for my other stuff actually.
the first paper was over and its just i'm a few days away from the next one and i'm kinda one day behind my schedule actually coz was apparently too tired that day to finish up...
anyway, i don't think i'd be updating much till the 8th of may where after which regular updates will return =D
so...here's the part 3...
i think there'll be like 3 or 4 more parts to come lol

last sem, during my breaks i'd fire up the shutters countlessly shooting at the notes and books...this time round i decided to just watch some south park or simpsons, coz if i do shoot, means i'll want to edit them later, then i'll post them later also...means will take more time than simply watching southpark d

and oh i watch malaysian dreams girls also, and...was actually quite surprise to see adeline staying instead of chessie...jay had always been fabulous but dunno why she don't have fans to vote her. cindy i tak de comment, she kinda talks too much..too much crap..oh and the slang they're saying, she do have ok..and it's kinda irritating..hanis, i think she's the favorite...but again i don't know leh...she a bit too...manis i guess...but then she do take great pics...oh..nadia, i kinda liked her at first, but then weeks later don't like d...her face in the pics she took is like damn fugly can...and oh if i in msia who would i have voted for ? i like ringo a lot coz she pretty :D, ya i like cute innocent looking gals, though i think that the mdg isn't being fair to her...i think the rest has more exposure than her...very seldom see her one...dunno why...but then...i think i'd had voted for jay..she really haf that model potential...now that two of my favs are like out alreadi...i'm kinda not really looking forward to watching what will happen next alreadi d : /

one flashing night

i honestly seriously need to get out man
but then again, aiz..have to be discipline
anyway, i'm interrupting homesick+n's post for a bit here for this

as now is the "exams study break"
my sleeping, eating and studying time had all be so screwed up i practically lost track of day and time
i'd mug mug till 5 pm and sleep all the way to 4 am and wakes up
and so the cycle will repeat so technically, i'm living the life of the opposite now
all because i have this thing about studying at night where i find it so much more peaceful and calmer
and for as long as the sun shines, i'd just have this uncomfortable feeling as if it's damn noisy despite the silence in the room

ok, so back to the flashing night
so i woke up like at 1 or 2 a.m. last night, or this morning ? i don't freaking know !
anyway, i woke up and have my meal
then 4 pages through the textbook i decided to take a little break and as usual stare outside the window, simply to give my eye that break it deserves from the long night of intensity on words after words
it was then that i saw flashes
i then said, aiz...just flashes no lightnings
i stare a bit longer and told myself, if from here i could see like 3 strikes, then i'd go or else i'd just be back on the table
none
so i got back to mug
3 pages later, my mind got so tempted to see the sky so much i totally gave in, it was then that i saw a few strikes
so okay, i pack my bag and leave

and as i was walking towards the opposite apartment, this huge, seriously damn HUGE, i mean...FREAKING DAMN HUGE, lightning just strike right above me....
i shouted
i even dodged !!!
and for once i got scared
all those adrenaline rush woke me up that instant when before that i was still very sleepy with my eyes hanging all that

i quickly fasten my pace to find shelter, it hadn't rain yet but the lightning strikes had began and i know, once they strike, they'd continue to strike and strike for a moment till it's really over
nevertheless, the intensity of that strike i saw got me questioning a bit...
for once, i began to question about safety
but i need this break i told myself
so i heck and gone up level 22 anyway while on my way saw a bunch of teenagers running into the shelter shouting in malay
"BESAAR SIOUL...."
"YA...AKU SAMPAI BEGINI TAU" *some dodging action

so i reached and as soon as i do, i began to check my view points
experience told me that lightning will strike at almost the same spot continuously and i don't know why but it's always true and that's how i got my lightning pictures
i checked on the east and west and also the south
it strike biggest on the south but i couldn't really got a clear viewpoint of it
some building in front of me is blocking the vast cities behind it
nevertheless, i tried to compose just for the heck of it

and.....













that's the biggest damn lightning i've ever captured man ! and as u can see, i even missed the third strike coz got some building blocking
i've just cropped out the foreground for this and the empty left side
it's severely underexposed thou
i was afraid that it'd rain so i had left my only filter for the 10-22mm on and that'll be the nd8
that's why super underexposed coz i had just started the shutter not long and it striked

after that, i had just open up the nd8 and left the 10-22 unfiltered













soon, i found out that the lightning are striking more and more towards the east so yeah, i changed my position also lo













definitely a lot of strikes that night
and sadly, i missed a lot of those nearby and big strikes
got those small small one instead
coz often, it'd either strike when i just finished an exposure or when i'm looking through the viewfinder

i saw like 5 strikes through my viewfinder and wow, i'd say it's damn....exciting seriously !

i really like this shot, coz if u see properly can actually see the strike begin from the sky up there then through the thick clouds and then down to the cities

it has also begin to rain, so...before it got bigger i'd better leave

i = hungry
but update first d, processed these pics i think two days ago or something but couldn't really find the time to update yet
it's either i'm just staring at the notes registering nothing or i'm actually studying or i'm downstairs in the middle of the night mugging away or i'm gaming or watching southpark while having my meal

yeah...
that's pretty much my days lately
wake up -> stare at the nothingness -> sit on computer table -> stare at the big screen -> dunno do what -> bathe -> have lunch while southpark-ing -> go outside the room stand walk walk around -> come back take textbook outside -> read read -> come back in coz outside hot -> go to computer table again -> play some game -> felt guilty so go back to notes table -> stare at the words -> can't concentrate so go back to computer table again -> play game again | and when the night falls, all the motivation suddenly come rushing in so | have a really quick dinner but still watching southpark -> bathe -> pack notes / pen / textbook / plain paper -> head downstairs with a can of chilled coke -> mug away

very boring eh ?
to think that i kinda have to live my 1 month away like this...
it's really prison-ing my creativity
seriously !
sometimes i'd just sit there while staring at the notes and then just some photographic idea pop out and i'll just like..
WTF ? i thought my brain is suppose to be filled with service quality etc etc why suddenly pop out this image out of no where that i wanna create ?

ok, i'm getting really hungry so here...

this shall be another damn long series
i've got quite a lot of pics i actually like, well, the selection will just then be up to the post-processing

i'm waiting for my fillet o fish and mc nuggets which is taking like damn long

however, i just can't wait so long down the sequence to finally edit this

i've just woken up not really long ago and the eyes aren't really open yet, and it makes me feel as if black and white feels so nice, thus this 90% bw first series and so i tried to edit those in bw again and i think i prefer the bw again !!

anyway, went for a short break just now when the sky turned dark with numerous thunders
before it rained, i ran up stairs
opps, now that i remember, i've yet to upload 1 pic from the iphone
but aiz...lazy already lah
wanted to show u guys how i snapped the pics coz i never bring tripod up
guess it'll have to wait till my next uploading of pics from the iphone d
i've yet to find out can i actually sync my pics using the bluetooth iphone to this mac

anyway, before it rained, i ran to my level 22 spot
having seen one damn big lightning from my window, i was convinced that there'll be more !!
so i packed my stuff
nd8 filter, 10-22mm, 400d and the iphone
and off i ran with a sweater














there were practically no lightnings for the first 10 shots i fired using my old way of shooting lightning, that is, just shoot and hope the lightning will strike during the exposure time
well, usually though i'll shoot lightning at night, when i can max the exposure to more than the ideal 30 seconds so i won't waste so much shutters
this time, the max exposure i could go was only like 2 sec
which is like damn fast













the sky then turned darker...happy me and it still haven't rain yet
max exposure now can be extended to about 5 seconds

still, no lightnings strike
there was a one or two but unfortunately for me, they striked when i was either looking through the pics or re-adjusting my composition
again, i did not have my tripod with me
i rested my 400d with on little space in the small opening of the building while holding to it damn tightly, as dearly as i could, controlling my breathing as much as i can
i was at level 22....dropping the 400d = crashing it beyond recognition and probably also killing the unlucky fella downstairs if some dude happen to pass there













again, no rain
50 shutters had gone by and no lightnings had been shot yet
i preserved on
i can't be this unlucky













the rain started to hit, and in an exposure of 3 seconds, i could record clouds moving that fast = SUPER HEAVY RAIN drop just like that
i'm starting to get wet
my nd filter was covered with rain droplets
with a few rain drops here and there on the camera
"SHIT" i gotta find another way and another place to shoot
i took out my iphone cloth-pouch which is luckily also is designed to absorb moisture and dirt and cleaned the nd filter away
i took off my sweater and covered my entire 400d body and lens up to where the hood is
lucky i brought the hood
placed my bag into a dry-er place

i ran downstairs, level 21
shit...even worst...and i began to move to the other side, to the more open side where from here, the residents in that level could actually see me
i usually only shoot at the staircases area so that nobody would know
not that i'm afraid or what...i just don't wanna like answers to those ah peks or ah mahs living over there

*find a way to balance the camera now that it's fully covered with my sweater*
*found a way*

more wiping away

unknowingly to me, i've got my first lightning but the 400d's lcd is so small i thought there was none
apparently, yeah it's so damn far also
i didn't know

frustrated, i switched to continuous shooting mode and just hold the remote shutter down

*why the hell each time i browse my camera, the very moment i stop snapping for a while, then the lightning will strike so damn big and near !!*

another 20 shots gone

the sky begins to be clearer
damn it
ok, change of plan
continuous mode but fast shutter speed now
i dial in manual mode
f/8 at 1/40
with the nd filter that cannot go off right now as i don't have any filter for the 10-22mm i sacrificed the image quality
i boost the iso to 400

ok, a bit dark, but better dark than over exposed

i then waited
and waited
just staring at the sky and the city...
5 mins
10 mins

2 strikes













and i got the last strike :D
FINALLY !!


i then waited on...now i want the lightning to be in the middle !

BUT suddenly i had the super sudden urge to go toilet !
OMG.....
i hold for another 5 mins
no more strike
cannot take it anymore
i quickly packed and ran back to the house

upload the memory card

102 pics snapped meaning i've wasted around like 100 shots
is it worth it ?
the damn strong wind + half-drenched so can protect camera + only 1 shot - quality
yes ! it's all worth it :D
